This is what happens when I don’t have concrete plans for Saturday.

I thought I ought to mention that with these idle hands I’ve messed a bit with the formatting of the site this morning. Instead of posting each new entry in its entireity, I thought we’d begin using the ‘Read more’ tag on each post, after a brief introductory paragraph or two. As I’m sure you know already, all you have to do is hit the ‘Read more’ link to find the rest of the latest entry.

See what I mean?

Posting the entire entry sometimes had the unintended effect of pushing still-new posts down the page and sometimes out of sight. You might miss something, and that we don’t want. Now, a quick scroll down the page will reveal all the recent posts.

If you’ve got any thoughts on this, or any other formatting issue, leave me a Comment or send me an e-mail (links, as always, are in the above header).

If not, carry on, and thanks as always for your patronage.

In the meantime, gear up for tomorrow’s matchup with Philadelphia by making some authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, paired with the perfect brews over on the Patriots Buffet Table.

Thought we’d recap a pretty busy week here at Patriots Daily, just in case you missed anything.

* On Monday, Scott looked back at the Patriots thumping of the chatterbox Wade Phillips and the Dallas Cowboys in Game Day Rear View

* Tuesday we went Inside Gillette with Christopher Price, who examined the first six games of this season for Tom Brady and compared it to the other top six game stretches of Brady’s career. In addition to his five things to watch this week, Chris also has a great quote of the week from Rosevelt Colvin.

In addition, Chris’s book, The Blueprint: How the New England Patriots Beat the System to Create the Last Great NFL Superpower was released this week, and Chris will be doing a book signing tomorrow (Saturday the 20th) at the Borders- Wayside Commons in Burlington at 2:00pm. It’d be great if you could come down and give Chris some support!

* Wednesday‘s edition of Direct Snapp examined Randy Moss’ transformation into the ultimate Patriot, and how even Terrell Owens’ baiting this past week couldn’t derail Moss’ team-first spirit.

* Bill Barnwell stirred up Dolphins fans with his look at The Pedigree of Ted Ginn Jr. on Thursday, which examined Ginn’s combine numbers as compared to other receivers that have come into the NFL in the last few years. A Barnwell work from last December; Chris Chambers, The Worst WR In Football also got a lot of attention this week as Chambers was traded to the Chargers, and San Diego fans didn’t like what they read about their newest wideout.

* Finally this morning, we had our weekly Patriots Roundtable, where we looked at this weekend’s matchup with the Dolphins, as well as some talk about whether the lunacy that is the national media attention has any chance of derailing the Patriots march through the schedule.

Check back this weekend, for College Scout by Greg Doyle and The Sunday Links from Scott Benson.

It’s not posted on their site yet, but Patriots Daily’s Bruce Allen did an interview with Cris Collinsworth for a new segment debuting this week on NBCsports.com. The idea is going to be for Collinsworth to talk to bloggers each week from cities involved in the Sunday night NBC games.

The camera incident was of course a big part of the discussion. Also talked about was Tom Brady’s legacy in comparison to Joe Montana’s, whether Norv Turner can take the Chargers further along than Marty Schottenheimer was able to, and which fan base gives Collinsworth the most grief.

We’ll be sure to pass along the link when it goes live.

We also have our first Patriots Buffet Table column posted, which we’re planning on doing for each home game this season. Our resident food and beer expert has put together a San Diego-themed menu for home use or tailgating and recommended a number of beers to try out with it.

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve filled what was previously the only open day in our posting schedule.

Tuesdays will now be home to Inside Gillette – a weekly notes column from Christopher Price which will bring Patriots Daily readers right to Foxborough, with bits and pieces picked up from around Gillette during the week. Quotes and stats of the week, as well as items from practices, press conferences and the games themselves will all be a part of the column, which debuts a week from today.

Price is an award-winning sportswriter who has covered the Patriots since 2001 for Boston Metro. He’s served a contributor to ESPN.com, SI.com, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post and The Miami Herald. Price’s weekly feature on the Patriots “10 Things We Learned…” was one of the most popular Patriots columns among bostonsportsmedia.com readers last season.

Chris is also the author of the new book The Blueprint: How the New England Patriots Beat the System to Create the Last Great NFL Superpower which is due to be released on October 2.

We’re looking forward to having Chris as a part of the staff, and to including his insights on the team here on the site.

With the addition of Price to the lineup, here is a reminder of what the weekly schedule is going to looking once the regular season gets underway:

Sunday: Sunday Links and Game Day Blog by Scott Benson
Monday: Game Day Rear View by Scott Benson
Tuesday: Inside Gillette by Chris Price
Wednesday: Direct Snapp by Dan Snapp
Thursday: Bill Barnwell’s Statistical Research of the Week
Friday: Patriots Roundtable
Saturday: Greg Doyle’s look at the day’s major college football games with an eye towards the Patriots’ 2008 draft selections.

In between those posts, we will of course also cover any breaking news, add our thoughts to news items, and sprinkle in some excerpts from the Bill Walsh book The Winning Edge.
