Thanks again Sandy!

Many British restaurants wish to claim chicken tikka as their own, Who wouldn't want to claim such a delicious example of British cookery!

There are several other restaurants within UK that dispute the claim of the Glasgow restaurant not to mention several historians in India who claim that the dish can be traced back to the 15th century Mughal Empire of Northern India.

For those of you around Boston, like me, I would recommend the Punjabi Dhaba (Inman Sq, Cambridge). They are the best in the area. For the serious culinary buffs, Jackson Heights, NY is probably the best place to find great Indian/Pakistani food.

I hope you were being sarcastic when you said "the most British of all British food. Chicken Tikka Masala" because Chicken Tikka Masala is an Indian dish.

Why do think the British invaded India and colonized the country for over 500 years? The Brits couldn't cook to save their lives. India was the land spices. That and the fact that the largest known gold and diamond mines in the 14th century were in India enticed the British to make the trip to India and the rest is history.

As for beer, I would recommend the India Pale Ale, IPA for short. The British definitely invented this baby. Read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_Pale_Ale
