Hard for me to completely rebut your article, as I work during the game and sometimes am only able to glance at it, but allow me to make a few observations.
1. Baltimore's secondary is not that good. Even Ed Reed, though a great playmaker, gambles a little too much for my liking. They lack a true shutdown corner, and Fabian Washington blows (except in Madden). The game charters at Footballoutsiders.com (my go to football website) also noticed that the Raven blitzes were not as drastic (i.e. did not bring as many guys) as the blitzes the Jets used, and i think they already miss Ryan more than people realize. So far the Jets look like their defense is far and away the best in the league, Giants and Ravens bedamned.
2. Brady is getting it back. It was fun to see the patrons at the bar, who were probably not intense football fans, nod their heads approvingly at his play. Even Beej, who gets a kick out of playing the negative nelly role, seemed tickled. Great QB play is easy to recognize, and awesome to watch.
3. Flacco was just as good as Brady. Its funny to watch teams fall in love with the Jamarcus Russell's of the world but completely overate guys like Joe Flacco. If the Ravens had a play-making WR, it could be over for the league. Thank goodness the Ravens have the serviceable but 104-year-old Mason paired with Droppy McDroppington otherwise the game may have resulted in a less joyous outcome.
4. Got the 4:00 game off and can't wait to watch the Pats take on the Broncos, who should be considered their third or fourth most hated rival (Jets, Colts, Dolphins, ehh maybe the Steelers). They never play that well in Denver, and this game will probably be close, as usual. This tough schedule may hurt the Pats's home field chances, but man is it fun to watch these great games. Not a stinker in the bunch so far. Go Pats.

It was Slater who caused the fumble on the opening kickoff, followed immediately by the hit from Alexander. Jim Nantz and others got it wrong.

I agree. The Patriots looked SO much better this week. I still worry about the defense though. Its nice to see Brady shaking off the rust. KUTGW-

Hey Jeremy. Pretty sure the fake FG was set up like the Vinatieri-Troy Brown play, with Baker starting out on the line tight to the LT, playing the old "Oh, wait, I don't belong here" card and running to the sideline, setting up near the sideline, and waltzing toward the end zone for the pass. The Pats got the snap wrong, meaning that Baker was still in motion on the line of scrimmage, which is illegal. Had he started in the backfield or had the snap happened after he'd stopped, then it would have been a legal play, although it looks like the Ravens were on to it.

Anyway, without any full TV replays (they completely missed the play), that's my understanding of what happened.
