Initial Injury Report – Week Five

By the end of last week, the big news was that the Patriots actually had full participation in practice for the first time all season. Even Jerod Mayo made it back out on the field for at least the start of practice. Mayo was back out there today, and is listed under the “limited participation” segment. Will he play this week? I still think it’s a longshot, but you’ve got to be thrilled that he is at least out there on the field for these sessions and not simply relegated to rehab work on his knee.

Under the “did not practice” section, we have two big names in Randy Moss and Fred Taylor. The good news is that Moss’ absence is not injury related. We saw Taylor looking a bit hobbled at the end of the Ravens game, so hopefully he just needs a day or two off to rest his ankle.

Looking back at last Wednesday’s report, we see a few injuries still lingering. Wes Welker, Shawn Springs, Nick Kaczur and Vince Wilfork all were there last week, and remain here this week. Kaczur and Wilfork didn’t practice last Wednesday, but both played against the Ravens.¬† New to the report this week¬† is James Sanders with a shoulder injury, we saw him land on the shoulder pretty hard on a sideline play in the Ravens game.

Matthew Slater continues his miraculous recovery by not even being listed today. Darius Butler, Mike Wright and Jonathan Wilhite were on the list last Wednesday, but are not there today.

Here is the “official” list:
