As Parcells says, you are what you are. Right now there's no reason to think the defense is much better than mediocre, same as their coordinator. I see a little better pressure on the quarterback but its been too easy to both run and throw on them. Granted its pre-season. Who knows what the season brings, but I know I was hoping to see more than what we've seen so far.

Andy, I think, like Nick Kaczur's blocking last week, we've got to find out who goofed. Did Bruschi let him go early? Hard to tell.
I think you have a point, but this defense has a shot if they can all get on the same page.

When is it going to be acknowledged that Dean Pees sucks? Both Romeo Crennel and Eric Mangenius were both under constant scrutiny, rightly or wrongly, when they ran things here but nary a word has been spoken or written about Pees. Why is that? Is it because of Belichick, everyone assuming he is the de facto D coordinator and Pees is merely his trained monkey or what? I just watched Chris Cooley, admittedly in the top third of NFL tight ends, go completely uncovered for 73 yards at the end of the half which is precisely when the Pat's D typically goes soft (anyone remember SB XLII or the AFC championship in '06?) Why doesn't this guy get more criticism? He SUCKS!!!!! The Pats D is clearly the Achilles heel of this team. Please explain this to me.
