Just to close the loop, this passage from Chung’s introductory PC:

Q: Have you already gone through graduation and ceremonies?
PC: Yeah. I’m graduated, walked and ready to go.

Q: Was that just last week?
PC: No. I graduated in December. I walked last April, so I’m ready.

It’s a simple matter of semantics. Just flip the sentence around to get his meaning: “For him to teach me everything he knows would be a great honor.” When written on the page, the words “a great honor for him” run together, but that’s not the significance of what he’s saying.

I mean, seriously. Come on. The kid’s trying to make a living after college. If you listened to the interviews, he comes across as serious and thoughtful. If his biggest gaffe is a misplaced prepositional phrase, I think we can all live with that.

Did Mr. Chung finish school? Is he aware now that he is the one who is supposed to be “honored” to be mentored, and not the other way around?

Perhaps the questions that are fired at these young rookies blend into one big, dull, general question that can always be answered with “I’m going to do everything they tell me.”
