Prediction: Next year, Cassel falls off a treadmill and goes on injured reserve during week two or three, and Peg Leg Brady steps in and leads the Pats to a 10-6 finish and the Superbowl where they lose to the Eagles who sack him like 11 times while Matt Light twiddles his thumbs. Also Peyton Manning goes 16-0 in the regular season but gets blown out 34-3 against the Chargers in thir first playoff game (Peg Leg Brady beats the Chargers 17 - 10 in the AFC championship game).

Bruce, we all know how the Patriots organization functions and they know Lombardi has a popular web site. To me this news doesn't fit how they would function unless they were using him to accomplish something.

The Pats make mistakes but they're unusual in that when they realize they've made one they quickly rectify it. Franchising Cassel is a huge gamble they'd have a hard time overcoming if they misjudge the QB market. IOW, I'm very skeptical.
