"Be aggressive". Bingo Chris. WTF has happened to aggressive defense around here? How is it that BB is accepting of this kind of play? No QB pressure and large cushions by the DBs; it baffles me. Would the '01 BB settle for, or design this? My mind keeps going back to Brian Cox laying out Jerome Pathon against the Colts in Brady's first NFL start. I want that back! I know that there's a lot of injuries, but that doesn't excuse a lack of aggressiveness from the players who are out there.

BTW, if this were hockey, that Steeler db would be missing some teeth after that hit on Welker, yet the Pats did nothing. They got shoved around in their own stadium in the biggest game of the year. Unacceptable. They may still have lost, even if they played more aggressively, but at least they would have went down fighting. This team has become very soft and I keep wondering why it's tolerated.

If Ben Watson isn't good for anything else, you have to admit he is the king of chasing down a defender who has intercepted a ball right before he gets to the goal line.

thanks, Ben. You're correct, by the way: the FG after Cassel's fumble made it 23-10. I don't blame Cassel for the loss, he just helped like everyone else. What's so frustrating is that it's coming down to more than mere lucky breaks: it's execution. False start and encroachment penalties, dropped passes, missed tackles and muffed kickoffs cook up a pretty off-putting stew. If they make the playoffs, anything can happen, but it would be amazing if this team can get it together in the next four weeks.

Good synopsis (although I think it may have been 23-10 after the first Cassell fumble). Glad you noted that sack on 2nd and 1 when it was still a ballgame. That and the ill-advised across his body pass in the endzone to Moss that the LB dropped (right after Moss's drop) were plays that the traditional starting QB tends not to make. That's okay. He isn't Tom Brady (although this reminds me a little of the Denver game in '01). It just means little margin for error from the other positions (drops, special teams fumbles and 3rd down D).
