Jeezus. Didn't even realize the step back that '06 draft class had taken (w/Maroney and Thomas unable to build on a strong season 2). I guess this season is the argument that you can't judge a draft until 3 years in. '05 holding up better than I anticipated with Mankins, Kaczur (why was he never suspended?), Sanders, Hobbs along with a backup QB making a case that you need to wait 4 years to judge a draft.

you make some excellent points, Scott.....even with all the injuries the Pats had a chance to make some noise.. (not that I'm totally giving up).....The loss to the Jets was the KILLER.........

Scott, I have to tell you that I just love reading your stream-of-thought pieces. And you're always right on top of things with exactly the right emphasis. I appreciate you and look forward to your reactions each week. Thanks for your good efforts.

ps: Personally, I think we have used up all of our luck for this season. 2008 will just be a bad year all around. It happens. Just ask the governor of Illinois.

Jeez, Scott - you need a little more caffeine in your coffee or something. Aren't you the one who usually cheers me up?
All we need to do is remember the first eight minutes of the season and the promise it held, and how that was dashed, and consider the fact that this team - without its first QB, RB, OLB or SS, among several others - is still vying for a playoff spot. Plus, the Jets and Fins play each other the final week of the season. That's good, right?
No, these Pats won't play well into January, but they still have a chance, and maybe this year that's all we can ask for.
I hope Matt Cassel has a chance to play: it might help to get back into a routine. Here's to a solid Sunday from our guys.
