DannyBoy needs a response that doesn't sink to his level. I don't see a "typical" person insulting a player because he's not on the team anymore.
Do you not find it fascinating that the majority of the players don't do very well in their post-Patriot lives? The fact is, the Pats roster decisions have been good and you need realize that players are not on that roster either because they're simply not good enough players or they're at least not good enough considering the money they are demanding.

What are the reasons?

Low level play - not good enough / not smart enough, and goshdarnit, people don't like him...(Beisel/Glenn/Bethel)

Age - projected decline of value vs. salary / use of cap space & roster spot (Bledsoe as a reserve)

Too many hits on the noggin - injury prone (paging Mr. Harrison)

Took the ring and ran away for more money & doesn't care anymore (Washington/Woody)

Took money and now plays in a system that doesn't suit them (Givens)

But you have to be happy for the ones playing well. Vinny is a good story, but David Patten is my favorite story this year.

Double post alert:
Indeed, you are correct, Terri. It's interesting, though, that the story pegs him as an ex-Bengals player -- I guess that team's outlaw patina is tough to shake. Sort of like Rodney getting whistled for Rosey's delay of game last Sunday -- a bad reputation dogs you everywhere.

You in the general sense. Not you specifically, Terri. I've only heard great things about you.

Sad if true, Terri. Almost as sad as the "Entering Trophy Town" T-Shirt at the top of the "Nine Essentials" in the Patriots Pro Shop e-mail that hit my inbox today. It's a horrible design (modeled after the town signs one sees in Massachusetts) and an obnoxious sentiment beneath the greatness of the Patriots.

To mix sports metaphors, the Patriots marketing dept. sure whiffed on that one.

I've seen a couple of Denver games this year and I'd forgotten that Daniel Graham was with them. Thats the kind of impact he's had.

Nicely done. What about my man Artrell, though? Are you focusing only on players that have been ex-Pats for at least a year?

Also, re: the kicking stats. You say the Ghost outpaces Viniateri in your metrics judging both scoring and kickoffs -- does that mean you've judged them with both aspects COMBINED, or scoring and kickoffs individually, and Gostkowski has come out on top in EACH?

(pls pardon the all-caps)
