IMO the Patriots could end up with a top 5 pick in the 2008 NFL draft courtesy of the 49ers. If so, Scott Paoli & Bill Belichick probably would attempt to trade down with the Cowboys in order to regain the Patriots “lost” first round draft choice. In this way the Patriots could end up with the 20th and 30th picks in the first round rather than say the 5th pick in round one which projects to be RB Darren McFadden. This scenario assumes that the Cowboys covet McFadden.

I used to be comforted by the five-word phrase “Trent Dilfer gets the start.” After watching the supposedly injured Alex Smith, I don’t know if Dilfer can play much worse than that. And, hey, HE’S A SUPER BOWL CHAMPION!!!
