Well I e-mailed these thoughts to Scott, but will post here too.
Good article by Breer, but when I read this, knew something was wrong:
"Only seven players remain from the miracle team of 2001 - Brady, Bruschi, Faulk, Larry Izzo, Matt Light, Lonie Paxton and Mike Vrabel."

Richard Seymour played
Stephen Neal inactive (signed off Eagles practice squad in Dec)

Blisters, I agree that the world would not end were the Pats to drop the opener, for the reasons you rightly point out. As you say, we've seen the opposite hold true many times, even though most places haven't. I thought that little Reiss factoid was worth noting as the results of week one start to roll in.

Can we start pooling resources to keep Breer in New England? If that's his Patriots swan song, it's a great one.

Drew - Stearns is awful. But think about the station's rotation of other "talent". They're all awful too. Christ, the Patriots themselves hired Tanguay to host their show.

There is nobody competent to fill that position.

Re teams that win their opening game are twice as likely to reach the playoffs...The Patriots lost their opening day game in 1996 (started 0-2), 2001 (started 1-3) & 2003 and reached the Superbowl all three seasons. It's really not the end of the world if they lose this game.
