Great write up on the game.

It looks to me as if Watson is still having a hard time holding on to the ball... that is what ended the first beautiful drive with only 3 points.

It also seems as if Mills has gone quiet and although Thomas did make the trip to Carolina, he has not played so far this preseason.

Marcellus Rivers has done a great job in camp as well as the preseason games. He could be the one to make the team. With Thomas remaining on PUP and and Mills to the practice squad.

Cuts. To me the most epic battle is at WR. This truly is a numbers game; one of the other 31 teams is gonna get a pretty good player or two.

Ok, locks:
Moss
Stallworth
Welker
Gaffney

That's 4 out of -- usually -- 5. Does BB go with 6 active this year? If he does, what other position gets short shrift?

So that leaves these for the last 1 or 2:
Troy (how does he make this team?)
Washington
Jackson
Bam
Kight
Training camp fodder

I love Troy -- he should never have to buy another drink in this town, EVAH -- but where do we put him? They seem to have depth at DB and WR; where does he fit in? Don't you wanna know what BB is thinking right now? Tough decisions, but as Pats fans we can take comfort in knowing that whoever survives will give Brady the best WR corps he's ever had -- by far.

Thanks Brian. Good to have you with us. You and Larry (earlier) both note the upcoming cuts, which gives me the idea that we should take a closer look at that this week.

I visited the old site a lot and want to pass on my praise of this new site, it's an every day read.

The upcoming cuts should be very interesting.

Not going overboard 'worrying', but it seems reasonable to point out when the kicker goes one for three. Kicking one from 46 isn't exactly like trying land men on Mars as far as degree of difficulty. I don't think he'd tell you he's kicking well at the moment. Doesn't mean he won't get it back on track eventually, but for now, I think he's scuffling a bit.

Larry might have a good point about the holder - I know Miller and Walter held last year, but didn't Cassel hold toward the tail end of the year when Sauerbrun became the punter?

I'm with you on Washington. The guy just looks like a player to me, both receiving and specials.

Sammy Morris can't be this good, can he? Seems like he makes at least one guy miss every time, and every carry ends with him falling forward for three yards. That first down he got by rolling over Dan Morgan was a thing of beauty.

Let's not go overboard worrying about "the Ghost" he missed a 46 yarder and a 52 yarder. Wasn't like he missed a couple of cheap shots

great blast, scott. i heard audio of the game on rpelay and agree with your energetic, pinch-me-fan assessment. not having seen the game i was wondering if cassell holding for ghost is a factor. it shouldn't be but this is my only concern moving ahead. i like baugher and a fresh big league and if samuel is back then this team is deep. the cuts this week should be mostly routine free agents like larry anam and such. or do you think there could be a veteran or two released to catch on somewhere else? practice squard should include; lua, matt guit, and the rogers kid i figure.

thanks for making the time. sorry about your fixed income. be glad you're not living in moscow, the most expensive city in the world by last count.

I didn't know what to think of Morris, either, other than the fact it was the second time in FA that Belichick was gunning for him. That's enough of a vote of confidence for me.

was really impressed with the play of Sammy Morris last night. I must admit, when the Pats signed him I really didn't think much of it. After watching him in the preseason I think this guy is going to be VERY valuable this year. he wears his heart on his sleeve too, looks like a PLAYA.
